2019 Cocktail Party

2019 Cocktail Party

It seems like everyone can use a stiff drink in 2019.

This past weekend I hosted my first cocktail party of the new year. Turnout was great: I enjoyed the chance to catch up with numerous old friends that I hadn’t seen in months. The cocktail menu was similarly filled with old friends, favorites from previous parties. I’d had multiple requests for the Brookfield Reverie, the signature cocktail featured in last month’s post – that was an obvious choice. Let’s bring back the Seelbach, which I served at my very first cocktail gathering. ‘Tis the season for blood oranges, the key ingredient in the Nico Melendez – add that one to the list. And no party of mine would be complete without an amaro cocktail, so we’ll round out the roster with the Little Bird Negroni from the namesake bistro in Portland. Enthusiasm for the drinks was so high that, by 10pm, we’d polished off the ingredients for those cocktails and I’d started taking requests (fortunately, my bar is well stocked). The last few tipsy revelers departed shortly after midnight, marking the end to another fun-filled evening. I’m already looking forward to the next one.
